Detective T. McLaughlin

The caller, later identified as known felon Harvey Martel, placed three calls to the Websters' home number.

Eleanor Webster notified authorities of the second call from a neighbor's phone instead of using the second line in the home in George Webster's study.

A meeting was arranged outside the Statehouse in Concord, NH, on October 15, 1982.

SA Frank Barletto from the Newark office of the FBI posed as George's cousin for the meeting.

The three men travelled by car across state lines to a bogus address in Boston. The car and George Webster were wired and tracked by the FBI.

Martel was then taken to the Boston office of the FBI, questioned, and fingerprinted. He was then released with no charges filed.
